My Mission   Reggie mason on Facebook

reggieTo continue to make Worcester County a safe place for our Children, their Parents and Seniors.

To make our business owners and employees feel safe at their jobs by having our deputies visit their work places.

To have regular meetings with our Residents on the southern, middle and northern ends of our County. The purpose of these meetings is to address Crime Prevention, Drugs in the neighborhoods, Sex Offenders living in our County, proper Eviction procedures for Landlords, or any other concerns they may have.

To have meetings once a month with all Chiefs of Police, State Police Barrack Commanders and the Department of Natural Resources at the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office to share information and resources. We will strive to help each other, which will in turn better serve the residents of Worcester County.

To educate and inform our businesses that sell alcohol and tobacco of any changes or updates in laws. Spot check programs will be implemented to make sure these businesses are not selling to minors.

To have our volunteer Fire and Police unit further trained to search for missing persons, to assist at crime scenes and to complete any other mission where they are needed. The unit will also be properly equipped to do their job as required.

To have each Command Lieutenant work one week each month of night patrol so they are more flexible and available to our County Residents. The command staff will also be available to assist the road deputies as needed. Stricter speed controls and Radar enforcement in any small or problem communities for the protection of our children.

To place a deputy back into a Community Policing concept while over seeing the Neighborhood Watch Program.

During these economical times we are having, I want to make sure our budget stays intact.  If it doesn’t our services to the courts and our residents may suffer.  Also the safety of our personnel concerns me.

We will be looking at government grants, however we have to be very careful, as many grants are only available for one to three years.

In past years,  we have used grant money in COPS.  After three years the County had to pickup the deputies pay, etc.  I thank the Worcester County Commissioners for doing this, as we were able to keep the deputies, if not other Law Enforcement Agencies could have hired some very good deputies at very little cost.

We have received alcohol, tobacco and domestic violence grants in the past, however, very little money is available now, if at all.

In 1985, I set up Worcester County Sheriff’s Office first Emergency Plan.  The plan divided our County in sectors.  In case of an emergency, such as a hurricane, the Deputies are assigned sectors from the border of Virginia to Delaware and neighboring counties.  They will be patrolling in your sectors and will be  available to help you if you have a power outage, phone outage or need assistance in any way.

The Worcester County IT Department and the Sheriff’s Office are in the process of creating a web site. Citizens will be able to email our Office.  They will be able to ask us for information or supply us with information,  such as drug tips, domestic and child abuse, etc. This will allow us to respond to their concerns.

Our County  has a Criminal Bureau of Investigation which was  created by Sheriff Charles Martin when he became Sheriff.  It’s membership includes officers  from the Maryland State Police, Berlin Police Department and the Sheriff’s Office.  Their case closure has been outstanding.

We also have A Drug Unit with members from the Maryland State Police and the Sheriff’s office working in Worcester County as well as the surrounding counties.
